So, I've decided to leave my gallery as is, and I'll leave this account open for now, but I will no longer be updating it or visiting it except to clean out my inboxes now and again.

It seems that a lot of the artists I follow and content I like to see has moved over to Tumblr, so I've been using that account a lot more lately. I don't get a lot of free time to mill about the Internet, so I don't want to babysit more than 2 accounts like this one. If you'd like to contact me, feel free, I'd be happy to talk to you, but please don't do it here. I check my Tumblr daily, and my FurAffinity account nearly so. Or you can e-mail me at duoradon at hotmail.com.

Thank you and take care,
-Duo/Alwyn

I haven't been using my account here much these days and that's probably not going to change. I may start using my Tumblr a bit more for personal work if I can ever get any done. But I am going to delete a lot of the older work I have posted here soon, so if there's anything you want but haven't saved, please feel free to do so. I also plan on re-doing my personal website when I can get the new backgrounds completed, and I'll be removing all commissioned works from that location. It seems kind of odd that the web space I pay for, the site that I built for myself, is mostly artwork I've done for other people. So while it'll have fewer images, it'll be focused firstly on my original characters, as well as my fanart. My gallery on FurAffinity will remain unchanged. That's where I'll be posting the work people commission from me. I may post a few of the clean commission pieces here as well.

So there's that. Pertinent links:

[This notice is being posted here because folks have requested that I share my commission updates on Deviantart as well as on FurAffinity. I use FA to take commission customers, so if you’re interested in such, please join me there:  furaffinity.net/user/squeakie     Thank you!]

I don’t normally do these sort of commissions but I’m really in the mood for some Dune fanart. So I’m offering 4 character portrait slots: your character in a stillsuit with a desert backdrop! The suits will be similar to those from the movie: www.dropbox.com/s/dus5jkgw92vj…

If you’d like one, I will be posting the rough sketch showing each pose (one image with 4 poses on it) on Tuesday, July 26th at approximately 8:00 pm Eastern in my FA gallery. To claim a spot, post a comment on that image posting; if you have a preference as to which pose you’d like, please state this in your comment. Slots are given first come, first served. Please note that this is NOT an auction. There is a fixed price of $35 for each slot.

The sketch will remain posted for one week. If, after a week, any of the spots remain unclaimed, I will fill them in with my own characters.

What you will get

*Image will be rendered in full color, with shading.

*You will receive your character by itself as well as the compilation showing all 4 together.

*You will receive a pencil sketch before the image is completed to give you the opportunity to correct any mistakes if needed.

*You may post your completed character in your gallery; I will be posting the completed compilation in my galleries.

*Turnaround time will depend on how quickly you respond as well as my own work schedule; I am only able to work on commissions on the weekends so it may be a number of weeks before your character is completely done.

Payment

*All payments must be made via PayPal and are 100% non-refundable. After you claim a slot, I will contact you privately with payment address.

*The cost is $35 for each character.

*Payment must be received in full within 10 days of posting your comment that claims your slot. If you do not send payment within that time, you will forfeit your commission.

Character Restrictions

*Your character must be a biped; no taurs, nagas or ferals.

*Any species is welcome, including fictional species and humans.

*Character may be male or female; child characters are acceptable.

*Character may be chubby but not fat; muscular but not enormously so; no hyper-sized body parts.

*Character may have wings, extra appendages, etc…..the suit will be tailored to fit your species.

*The stillsuit will be rendered without hood or face mask but with nose plugs (unless you’d prefer to leave them off). Boots are mandatory, though, and will be tailored to fit your type of feet. Suit will be dark gray.

*You may opt to add simple accessories if you wish, like scarves, jewelry, water rings, goggles, etc.

As always, if you have questions, feel free to ask any time! I’m hopeful I can find 4 people who are into this, I think it will be fun ^_^

**I have been asked to post my commission updates here as well as on FA, but please understand that I only take commissions through FurAffinity.net. My user name there is Squeakie.

I will have 3 commission spots available on Saturday, March 5th at around 1 p.m. Eastern. All of my commission info (procedures, prices, what content is off limits, rules for adult material, etc) can be seen here: www.duoradon.com/main/commissi…   Each person signing up may choose only ONE of the options listed in my price menu per commission spot. And again, if you've gotten a commission from me recently (within the past several months), please wait a few turns before signing up again. If you have questions, feel free to ask anytime.

Here’s a quick run-down on how to sign up:

I’ll post a new journal on FA at the time listed above. If you want a spot, post a comment on that journal. This time around, I’ll be taking comments #1, 5 and 7.

Please note that you are not signing up for a waiting list; you will have 10 days (so until March 15th) to submit BOTH your description and your payment (or half payment for large orders). So if you’re unable to start a commission at this time, please don’t claim a spot.

Since folks were confused last time, some notes on journal comments:

    1)      Please don’t post more than one comment on the sign-up journal. If you do, I am only counting the first comment you made.

    2)      If someone posts replies to other people’s comments, those are not counted either.

I’m currently laid off from my job for a few weeks, so I expect this next set to be completed faster than those I’ve been working on during the weekends only. Whether or not I can be available for any more commissions before I get called back in to work will depend on what these 3 sign up for, and how soon I go back (which I have no way of knowing). I’ll do what I can.

Thanks!

I don't have much to report that's relevant to this site, but I did want to replace the last journal and give a progress update regarding commissions.

As for the 2 commission customers I'm working with now, progress is moving very slowly due to the large size of each project and the difficulties I'm having at home. We've had to take care of some large "technical" problems with the house recently, and my Mom's been ill. After many tests and back surgery, we found out she does have a serious illness, but it is treatable and her doctor feels her prospects should be good. Fingers crossed. Even though I only work 32 hours a week at my job, I've had to take some days off to be with her and to deal with the other issues since she can't right now. So commission work has been whittled down to about one day a week. I do make a little progress each week, but it will be some time yet before they're done.

Also, I've had no luck finding a better job so it seems likely I'll be open for another couple commission orders before the end of the year. I get people periodically asking me if I have any openings at the moment and the answer will always be "no". If you look at the current journal on my FurAffinity account, the one visible on my front page, and it does not say "Commissions Open Now", then I do not have any openings. As before, I will post a journal prior to the opening to let everyone know what day and time to expect the sign-up journal. If you have any questions about prices and procedures, please visit duoradon.com.

I hope you all have a fun Halloween!

Peace Out.

-D

Also, please don't ask any questions about my Mom, I won't answer them. Thank you.

Hey there, party people. I've updated my Commission section with the new procedures that will be in effect the next time I open for orders. If you're thinking about wanting art from me in the future, please take a look, it's considerably different than it used to be: www.duoradon.com/main/commissi… (Prices and rules are there as well).

Everything's more section-y rather than paragraph-y, kind of, so hopefully it'll be easier to read.

Here's a run-down of what's changed:

1) I USED TO take orders by e-mail and make a waiting list, anywhere from 10 to 20 people long. You grabbed a spot, then you waited for it to come around.

NOW when I have openings, they will be through FA journals and begin at the time of sign-up. You claim a spot and start working right away, no wait period. Which brings us to.....

2) You USED TO have 30 days after you were notified that it was your turn to send a description and payment. The reason being that people often had to wait months or even years for their turn. Without knowing precisely when their turn would come up, it would only have been fair to give people time to get things together.

NOW you will have 10 days after you claim a spot to present both your description and first (or total, if under $100) payment. So please don't take a spot if you know you're too busy to work right away or if you know you won't have the money to spare in that time.

I should be available more often now so there's no reason you can't wait to claim an opening when you're prepared for it. If you cannot produce payment within 10 days you'll forfeit your spot.

3) I USED TO allow people to commission however many different projects they wanted as long as it fell under the $400 cap.

NOW I'm asking you to choose only one project per sign-up. There is an updated menu through the link I've provided, hopefully it will be clear enough to understand, but please speak up if it's not.

The $400 limit is still in place, and a single Option may have more than one picture, but all art must be for the same story or idea (except for characters without backgrounds; they don't have to be related but are limited to 6).

For example, a person might want a 5 page line-art comic about Teen Titans. That would be fine, it's all one story and costs less than $400. However, if the person asked for 2 pages about Teen Titans and 3 for a Justice League story, I would ask him to choose one or the other. The reason for this is to help commissions run more smoothly and quickly in the hopes that I will have more openings. By keeping to a single project, you'll only be supplying one description and we'll only be going through the discussion/price-quote phase once. You are, naturally, more than welcome to claim another spot in the future if you'd like another project.

So, I may not handle commissions like this long term, but for now I'm going to see how it works. If you have any questions feel free to voice them, but do me a favor and look through my site info first, it's pretty thorough.

Thanks!

Firstly, my sincere thanks to everyone who purchased the kangaroo pic, it was a tremendous help! As always, your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Second, my commission list of 4 years is FINALLY done! So here's what's next in terms of commissions: the first set of new openings will go to my 3 long-term regulars, then I should have some new openings for the general public. I will not be making a waiting list as I have in the past, I will take 1 to 3 orders at a time depending on how much time I have. Those that grab the slots will start working immediately as opposed to waiting for their turn to come up on a list. Shorter payment deadlines will be in place, so please don't take a slot if you're not ready to work on it. I will be posting another journal when I have all my rules and prices updated so you can review the new process before any openings come up.

Openings will still be taken first-come, first-served, but I will be announcing the day of the openings ahead of time. I'm also planning on restricting the first few slots for people who have never gotten a commission from me before.

In addition, I will only be taking commission sign-ups through FurAffinity. Most of my clientele seems to find me there and it's simpler than taking e-mail sign-ups and then having to tell a bunch of people they didn't make it in time, especially since I've only got a few available openings at one time. With a journal announcement, people can see that the spots were already claimed and not bother composing a message, etc. That means you'll need an account on FurAffinity.net (which is free) and you'll need to look for my journal announcements. If anyone feels this is unfair or has complaints or suggestions, feel free to voice them and if there are enough, I'll consider other options. For now, this seems the easiest. My account there: furaffinity.net/user/squeakie Contains adult content but you won't be able to see the mature files unless you are signed in to your own account and have the SFW filter off.

As for how soon openings may appear, again I cannot say. It all depends on how long I'm laid off from work, which is impossible to know, and whether or not we'll go back to full time in the spring, which no one will tell me yet. I will keep you posted.

On a related note, since I've been getting a variety of inquires lately, I should mention again that I do not take requests or trades. I have done trades in the past (with varied, sometimes unhappy results) and I will only trade art with someone I know well and then only when I have the time, which is rarely. My apologies, if I had tons of money and free time, I'd draw anything for anyone.

Hello boys and girls, and Happy New Year! The past 2 months have been very difficult for me so I'll cut to the chase....the move cost a lot, Christmas cost a lot, my cat was in need of expensive vet care and work cut my hours, so I need money. I've got an exclusive stuffing pic to offer for a meager $5 contribution. It features two of my original characters, Kangaroo Blue and Bill the Cassowary, seen here, if you've never met them: www.duoradon.com/main/artwork/…

This file I'm selling is flat color, measures 2400x1902 pixels at 200dpi, 1.5 mb. In it, a fat-bellied Blue, face stuffed with sweets, sits atop a very disgruntled and squished Bill.

If you'd like it, please PayPal $5 American to duoradon@hotmail.com. You will then receive a reply with a dropbox link where you can download the file (use the link provided, right-click the image and choose "download").

Please take the time to download and save the file to your hard drive. The links will expire and I will not be sending the file to you via e-mail later because you "forgot to save it".

I will continue to offer this image as long as there is interest in it, up to a few months. I will not post it in my galleries and I ask that you not post it or distribute it either, please.

Thanks for visiting, all the best to you in the new year!

Not that I've been around much lately, but over the next week I'll be absent from the Internet. We're moving to a new house soon (not happy about it but I have no choice in the matter), so if you're expecting a reply of any kind from me and don't get it, I'm either packing, moving, or waiting for the re-connection of Internet service. See you guys later.....

So, I'm almost done with the commission queue I've been working on for the past 3 years. I will have Dragoneer's comic completed soon and posted on FA, and Tach has already confirmed his completion of the Kate comic. I'm sure that will make people happy, Kate gets a lot of favorites. It'll be a while before that one is done and posted; if anyone recalls, I only work on commissions on the weekends now.

But whether I open commissions again or not depends entirely on my job situation. Even though everyone now has their own health insurance, the government still can't decide if places like the one I work for can allow seasonal employees to return to full-time status. Right now I am only permitted 32 hours/week and with my wage, that's not nearly enough to live off of (which is why I live where I do, rent-free). However, within the next 1-2 years my partner and I have to find a way to make enough money to find a new place. Commissions only offer a little extra now and again, at best. So unless something changes, this is what I'm planning:

If my employer allows me to return to full-time next season (which starts in March) I will continue to take occasional commissions. I'd like to take a break from them for a bit first as I'm feeling more than a little burnt out, and I won't be making another queue like before, just one or two orders as time permits.

Conversely, if they will not give me 40 hours, I will either have to look for another full-time job that pays more (good luck with that) or more likely, take a second part-time job to fill in the days I don't work. In either case, I will not be taking commissions again. I can't say never ever, but not so long as that work scenario persists.

So I have no choice but to wait and work and probe other possibilities, of which there are dismally few. As for my side projects, I will get them done mostly because I don't like leaving loose ends untied. Without going into a whole tirade, I've been having feelings of frustration and resentment about my art in the past few months. This is the reason River's Journal is on hold; I just don't feel like working on it. It's different than artist's block this time.....maybe it'll work itself out, maybe I need a massive change. Only time will tell.

At any rate, thanks so much to everyone who stops to browse my tiny corner of the net, and my deepest gratitude to those who've been so supportive, now and since the beginning. I'm glad you like what you see :)

It's been almost half a year since I made a journal entry, so I suppose I should post my status, should anyone be interested in that sort of thing. (It's really not very interesting. At least to you. To me, it's huge.)

Since the summer, my finances have been in crisis due to two factors. The first is this whole insurance/Obama Care quagmire.......do we need insurance, how much insurance, when, how much will it cost......it's been a 6 month cycle at work of 1) Hearing employee rumor about the horrors we can't possibly hope to afford, 2) Asking my supervisor if this is true, 3) Going online to try to make sense of the changing rules and coming away with only a partial verification and tons of questions.

As it turns out, and I'm holding my breath because it's not official yet, my state is one that expanded Medicaid and I qualify for it since I earn about 1% more than the poverty line (go Me, that 4-year college investment was SO worth it). So I should be on track for some kind of affordable health care, if the government finishes my application process before March.

But number two, and it's a huge number two, is my student loan payment which was fixed to go up to $329 a month. The banks didn't want to touch it so I was considering a lot of vague options.....do I have to quit commissions and get a second job and work 7 days a week? Or do I quit the zoo and work at a factory somewhere where I can lose an arm or be poisoned or who knows what.....My partner was willing to pay half of the bill each month, bless him, but it turns out he won't have to. I went to www.studentloanforgivenessplans.org
(which is an Obama instituted plan, just sayin') and they've taken over my loan. I would recommend checking it out if you're having problems making your loan payments; you don't have to be in default. I wasn't, I just wanted to see if I had any options and they put me on an income based repayment plan, so yay! (I should never have gone to art school in the first place, that's the real issue )

So, until something else catastrophic crashes into my life, I'm still working at the zoo, hoping they'll put us back on 40 hours after this insurance mess settles down, and spending 2-3 days on commissions. They're moving super slowly, but as you can see below, I'm down to less than 10!

As for future commission openings, I still have no idea on the "ifs" or "whens". I know that's frustrating, but with so much instability in my finances, I'd hate to say one thing only to have the situation change and then take it back, etc. I'll have to wait and see where I'm at when I'm done with this list, then I'll let you know.

And I haven't forgotten about The Oasis comic and the other side projects, I just haven't had time to work on them. All the best to you guys in this new year!

I have discontinued the use of my website's e-mail update system. It seems Hotmail won't let me send a mass e-mail due to spam constraints and there were too many people on it to break it up into little groups. I haven't been updating my site more than every other month or so anyway, though I will continue to do so as I have content for it.

To learn about updates to the site or the status of commissions, you may check www.duoradon.com at your leisure. I will also post the latest news in this journal and on my Tumblr. If the news is regarding your specific commission, such as a notice that I can begin, I will as always contact you personally via e-mail.

If anyone has a suggestion for another method of posting news, I'm willing to consider it.
